NEW PATIENTS AND CLIENTS
If you have not heard of an Accredited Exercise Physiologist before a referral to one can be daunting as you do not know what to expect. We can assure you that our aim here at InTouch Exercise Physiology is to make you as comfortable as possible in your Exercise Physiology treatment. Our clients are referred for many differing reasons but our initial contact with clients is always the same.
“Exercise advice in a non-judgemental environment ”
Welcome, our aim here at InTouch Exercise Physiology is to make you feel as comfortable as possible in your Exercise Physiology treatment. Maybe you know what it is that we do and want to see us privately, or maybe you’ve been referred by your GP? It does not matter how you heard about us, initial contact will always be the same. We encourage you to call and speak to our friendly receptionists to arrange an initial assessment. If you have been referred by your GP please ensure you bring your referral information with you.
Our initial assessments are one hour in duration. We always ask that clients arrive 15 minutes prior to their appointment time to complete paperwork, unless otherwise completed (may be sent via email).
What does the initial assessment involve? Your Accredited Exercise Physiologist aims to gather as much information as possible relevant to your current condition, including medical history and physical activity history, as well as what strategies you might have implemented up until your appointment time with us. Physical testing is always conducted as part of our assessments to determine baseline anthropometrical measures, movement patterns, joint alignment and strength/ balance abilities. Home-based exercise is not always prescribed at your initial assessment and can most times be demonstrated at your follow-up 45 minute consultation.
What do you wear? It is encouraged that you wear comfortable loose clothing to your initial assessment to allow for free movement when involved in the physical testing component of your initial assessment.
We always encourage new clients to bring with them any paperwork that they feel would be relevant to their Exercise Physiology treatment, in addition to any questions that you might have about what benefit you’ll gain through supervised Exercise Physiology treatment.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
